Happy Hearts Fund started its work in Indonesia by rebuilding schools in Yogyakarta in response to the devastating earthquake in 2006. In 2013, HHF launched its first international chapter, Happy Hearts Indonesia (Yayasan Hati Gembira Indonesia), to support the reconstruction of more schools affected by natural disasters around the country.

In 2022, to grow and strengthen the organization, Happy Hearts Indonesia registered as a non-profit organization in the U.S as described under Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. In order to qualify as a 501 (c) (3), HHI clearly states the mission to rebuild schools and provide better access to education for children in underprivileged areas.

The organization that is classified as 501 (c) (3) can be exempt from taxes as well as take advantage of the many other benefits, such as recognition of the organization as more credible to the public and other entities, or having the ability to give donors tax deductions when they make charitable gifts to our organization.

Because of this status, our opportunities to make global donations are more open. Not only from Indonesia, but everyone worldwide can donate through our channel. The more people donate, the more schools are built. Currently, HHI has built more than 260 schools by 2022, and HHI continues to be committed to rebuilding more schools so that all children in Indonesia have access to and receive a better education through safe schools.

If you are based in the US or other countries, you can donate through GlobalGiving.
